Power of Attorney

Information on obtaining Power of Attorney

Nationals of Afghanistan residing in Germany, especially those living in Nordrhein-Westfalen, Hessen, Niedersachsen, Rheinland-Pfalz, or Saarland, can apply for a Power of Attorney at this mission.

Important Information and Instructions
  1. Applicants, along with two witnesses who are adult and Afghan Citizens must visit the Consulate in person. This document cannot be processed or issued in the absence of the applicants, via post or online.
  2. Applications are accepted during working days and hours.
Required Documents
A. Power of Attorney for Marriage Certificate:

To apply for the Power of Attorney, the following documents are required:

  • Application Form: Applicants must carefully complete the application form in Dari or Pashto, ensuring accuracy in names, dates, figures, and places. The form should clearly specify the subject of the Power of Attorney and define the scope of the attorney’s authority. [Download the application form here].
  • Either the husband or wife residing in Germany must personally visit the Consulate with the following:
  • A formal request letter specifying the required services and including details about the date and place of the marriage.
  • Proof of Afghan Citizenship: Applicants either the husband or wife and two witnesses must provide their original Tazkira (National ID) or Afghan Passport, along with copies.
  • Proof of Residency in Germany: Applicants, either husband or wife and two witnesses must provide a copy of their Personalausweis [Sample] (both side – showing the name and address of the holders).
  • Two Passport-Size Photographs: Applicants, either the husband or wife and two witnesses must provide two recently taken photos with a white background. Photo [Sample].
  • A copy of the Tazkira and a recent photograph of the attorney or legal representative in Afghanistan or other countries, as required.
B. All other Types of Power of Attorney:
  • Applicants, must personally visit the Consulate with the following:
  • Proof of Afghan Citizenship: Applicants and two witnesses must provide their original Tazkira (National ID) or Afghan Passport, along with copies.
  • Proof of Residency in Germany: Applicants and two witnesses must provide a copy of their Personalausweis [Sample] (both side – showing the name and address of the holders).
  • Two Passport-Size Photographs: Applicants and two witnesses must provide two recently taken photos with a white background. Photo [Sample].
  • A copy of the Tazkira and a recent photograph of the attorney or legal representative in Afghanistan or other countries, as required.
  • For property-related matters, if the property is inherited, the applicant must provide a copy of the Certificate of Inheritance along with a copy of the property ownership document (e.g., Sale Deed or Qabala) or detailed information about the property.

Note: If the Power of Attorney is intended for legal claims or counterclaims in court, the designated attorney must be either a licensed lawyer or an immediate family member of the client (ascendant, descendant, or a descendant within the same lineage).

Issuance of the Document

The document will be issued on the same day after the completion of the following steps:

  • Fee: The fee for the Power of Attorney is €300. Payments can be made via bank card. Please note that credit cards are not acceptable.

  • Same-Day Issuance: Once all requirements are met, the document will be issued on the same day during working hours.

Important Notes

Document Preparation: Ensure that you bring all required documents with you to avoid delays in processing. Incomplete applications will not be accepted.
